Technical Overview & Applications

Bulava is VARTA's 15-inch heavy interceptor platform, engineered for long-reach engagements where range, payload, and data security take priority. The 15-inch airframe supports a 3 kg payload over a 30 kilometer mission radius, transmits over encrypted digital video, and mounts two 20mm barrels in the base configuration — expandable to four in Bulava Max.

The platform is designed for hardened missions: deep-pattern airspace patrol, defense of high-value fixed assets, and extended-loiter overwatch. The encrypted digital link provides resilience against electronic warfare and interception. The additional payload capacity permits richer sensor integration, including the Kurbas or Caddx 384 thermal camera and the full DOZOR AI module for fully autonomous engagement cycles. Two configurations are offered: the base Bulava (two barrels, no thermal, no AI), and Bulava Max (four barrels, thermal, DOZOR AI).

Bulava Max expands the kill-chain tempo — up to four engagements per sortie without reload or return to base — while preserving human override authority at every decision point. Use cases include point defense of critical infrastructure, sector overwatch in contested airspace, coordinated defense against fixed-wing UAVs and loitering munitions, and scalable formation defense when paired in flights of multiple platforms.
